Did you know that an average truck consists of around 30,000 parts? Imagine manually ordering each part via email, phone, fax, or PDFs—handling technical documentation, orders, changes, transport bookings, shipping notifications, and invoices. That would mean 150,000 documents per truck, not to mention the risk of errors, delays, and inefficiencies.
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is the digital bridge that connects Volvo Group with suppliers, partners, and customers. It automates every step—from order creation to invoicing—seamlessly integrating logistics and finance systems across the globe.
EDI automates the exchange of business documents, reducing the manual data handling.
Secure Data Transmission: EDI uses secure protocols to ensure data is transmitted safely and integrated with different business systems such as ERP and CRM for flawless operations.
EDI systems can scale to accommodate growing business needs and increased transaction volumes.
Consistent data formats improve the accuracy and reliability of information.
EDI helps businesses comply with industry standards and regulations.
Printed paperwork and storage replaced by real-time data exchange.

Dear Supplier Partner
Please be informed that Volvo Group has set ANSI X12 in decommissioning mode in accordance with AIAG automotive.
Why: AnsiX12 does not contain all the required information that is needed for today's procurement information and the format is not
further developed to match Automotive Standard.
The global and supported format is EDIFACT.
New suppliers to Volvo Group will only be connected with EDIFACT and existing suppliers will be contacted and asked to migrate to EDIFACT within 6 months from first contact.
